Objective: The present study aimed to compare social Phobia, body image and life expectancy for men and women seeking cosmetic surgery with ordinary people.
Methods: This study is a comparative- causal study. In this study, 100 patients seeking cosmetic surgery were referred to health centers and clinics of Rasht that were selected using multi-stage cluster sampling method and were compared with 100 non-applicants who were matched in terms of sex, education with the applicant. Data were collected during the implementation of Social Anxiety Inventory (SPIN), a body image (MBSRQ) and life expectancy Schneider scale and using multivariate MANOVA inferential statistical analysis was performed.
Findings: The results showed that: 1. there is significant difference between social Phobia, body image and life expectancy in men and women Cosmetic surgical applications with ordinary people (P<0.01). 2. There is significant difference between male and female Cosmetic Surgery applicants with normal people in terms of social Phobia (P<0.01). 3. There is significant difference between male and female Cosmetic Surgery applicants with normal people in terms of body image (P<0.01).4. There is significant difference between male and female Cosmetic Surgery applicants with normal people in terms of life expectancy (P<0.01).
